Today's most popular shingle: Timberline®

In 1967, RUBEROID engineer, Phil Bottoli laminated two strip shingles together to create a shingle of extraordinary strength and aesthetics. The Timberline® Shingle became North America’s best-selling shingle. The same year, RUBEROID merged with GAF and adopted the GAF name.

Energy From Every Roof™

GAF solar efforts grew into GAF Energy. GAF Energy works in partnership with GAF, offering affordable integrated rooftop solar options to residential and commercial customers.

Recently named Vice President, Operations Culture and Employee Engagement, Kelvin's inspiring 44-year Operations career at GAF has spanned 16 positions and three states — and counting! "Sometimes our qualifications don't check all the boxes, but if you keep trying and have faith in yourself, someone will be willing to take a chance on you."
In 1994, GAF's manufacturing plant in Shafter, California opened with a 19-year-old Ruben as an Operator on the original starting crew. While he only planned on staying for five years, Ruben remained on the Shafter team, holding various roles from Operator to Process End Leader to Shift Supervisor. He then took on more responsibility as Production Shift Lead for about five years. After his time on the line, Ruben then was granted an Electrical Apprenticeship, shifting the trajectory of his roles. He held positions as the Electrician Onsite, Electrical Team Lead, and Electrical Controls Specialist – a role he held for about seven years. He then was promoted to Senior Controls Specialist, until he most recently was selected as the Manager for GAF's new Incubation Center. In this role, he supports the hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and technology evaluation to accelerate innovation across GAF.
Women in roofing are estimated to make up just about .5% of the entire roofing workforce in America. This figure is stark—and it shines a light on the tremendous opportunity within the industry to recruit talented women.
