Building a better future today
Product transparency
GAF leads the roofing industry in product transparency documents including EPDs, HPDs, and Declare Labels. Product transparency helps us to understand our impact and provide our partners with the information they need to make more sustainable choices.

Energy efficiency
We work to lower operational carbon emissions by prioritizing energy efficiency. Our polyiso insulation is a core part of our strategy, as it may improve a building's performance by helping to reduce energy demand for heating and cooling.

Life cycle assessments (LCAs)
GAF uses LCAs to measure and reduce its products' environmental impact. The findings are published in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which help GAF products contribute to green building certifications.
Sustainable architecture
Diverting waste from landfills
The RoofCycle™ Process helps to divert post-consumer shingle waste collected from landfills. Shingle tear offs are transported to a GAF processing center where they are recycled into briquettes and granules.

FAQs
Sustainable roofing can help to improve a building's overall environmental impact. It can help increase energy efficiency and reduce resource consumption by using materials that support conservation efforts and minimize waste. By helping to positively impact the local environment, it contributes to building more resilient structures and contributes to a healthier community.
Sustainable roofing can reduce energy costs in a few ways. Highly reflective materials lessen the heat absorbed, which may reduce the need for air conditioning. Insulated roof systems and vegetated roofs add thermal resistance, which may help lower the energy needed for both heating and cooling.
