The Challenge:
One of the benefits of TPO is its low surface energy and weak molecular attractions. That’s what helps it withstand water penetration. But it can also make TPO hard to bond to. That’s why we usually recommend a primer — to create a layer with high surface energy — when applying an adhesive. But applying a primer can be time consuming and labor-intensive.

The Solution:
GAF uses a proprietary high-tack, high adhesion butyl tape with low-molecular weight “tackifying” resins and adhesion promoters to improve adhesion on our GAF EverGuard™ Primerless TPO Cover Tape. Because these tackifying resins emulate the role of a separately applied primer, it takes a typical 24-hour window to achieve full adhesion, similar to traditional cover tape.*

Application:

• Use soap and water to clean the membrane and edge metal surface to be covered.
• Dry the area then wipe it down with a white cloth moistened with EverGuard® TPO Seam Cleaner.
• If using EverGuard® TPO Aerosol Seam Cleaner, use as directed.
  Apply Primerless EverGuard® TPO 6" Cover Tape with a silicone roller.
