If you've ever looked closely at your roof, you've probably noticed several pipes and other rooftop accessories that cover plumbing pipes and appliance vents. Those pipes and vents serve several functions, ensuring your plumbing system and other household appliances operate correctly, allowing excess heat, moisture and odors to escape.
However, any pipe or accessory that penetrates the roof system has the potential to cause leaks if it isn't adequately protected. Leaks can be problematic, as they can encourage the growth of mold and mildew and weaken the structural integrity of your roof. Properly sealing these penetrations is key to protecting the interior of your home from moisture. Rooftop accessories provide a tight seal to prevent leaks while improving the appearance of unsightly pipes and vents.
GAF offers three rooftop accessories designed to protect your roof from potential leaks and maintain proper ventilation.
Master Flow™ Pivot™ Pipe Boot Flashing
One of the most vulnerable parts of your roof is the penetrations where plumbing vent pipes protrude through your roof. If they aren't sealed correctly with the proper flashing and rooftop accessories, you may be vulnerable to water intrusion.
GAF Master Flow™ Pivot™ Pipe Boot Flashing protects pipe penetrations by fully encapsulating them, providing a streamlined, finished appearance. This ensures a proper seal, reducing the risk of leaks. In addition, their durable, galvanized steel exterior has no exposed seals or gaskets and doesn't require caulking, which can degrade over time.
The pipe boot fits schedule 40 PVC, ABS, and steel pipes with diameters of 1.5 inches (38.1 mm), 2 inches (50.8 mm), 3 inches (76.2 mm), and 4 inches (101.6 mm).
Pivot™ is available in four colors: black, weathered wood, brown, and gray to ensure a seamless match with your shingles... It's also approved by the state of Florida and meets certain FORTIFIED Roof™ requirements.
Pivot Pipe Boot Flashing Benefits

- Completely encapsulates plumbing vent pipes, giving them a clean look that matches your roof's aesthetic.
- Passes the 110 mph wind-driven rain test per TAS-100(A) and UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistance test.

Master Flow™ Versa Cap Adjustable Pipe Cap
Besides vent pipes, other vulnerable penetrations include rooftop flues, hot stacks, and B-vents for exhaust from gas appliances. These must also be protected by rooftop accessories to prevent water intrusion.
GAF Master Flow™ Versa Cap Adjustable Pipe Cap provides a neat, finished appearance for these vents. It's made out of aluminum, so it resists rust, which can detract from the look of your roof. It fits pipes from 2 7/8 inches (73 mm) to 10 7/8 inches (276 mm) in diameter and features a positive draft design that helps prevent clogs.

Master Flow™ Bath & Dryer Rooftop Appliance Vent
