GAF is expanding residential roofing production operations by building a new state-of-the-art shingle manufacturing facility in Newton, Kansas. The project began with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 5, 2025. Production at the new GAF manufacturing facility will start in 2027, with the plant reaching full capacity by mid-2029. The new GAF plant will add capacity to help meet the growing demand for market-leading residential roofing products and provide the resources needed to fuel further innovation.

With this facility, GAF is creating more than 130 new manufacturing jobs in the region, encompassing management, engineering, and operations. The manufacturing facility will produce GAF's #1-selling Timberline HDZ® brand of residential roofing shingles, benefiting the network of local independent contractors and distributors in the region who rely on GAF products to meet their customers' needs and grow their businesses.

Community Impact and Partnerships

GAF strives to enrich lives and livelihoods at every level—for employees, customers, and the communities in which the company operates. GAF is committed to being an active community member and to helping Newton continue to be a great place to live and work.

With this in mind, GAF collaborates with local organizations to support their new neighbors, including donating the roofing materials to two Habitat for Humanity projects (with several more planned this year).

In Hesston, Kansas, GAF donated a new roofing system and warranty to a new home developed by Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County to support a local family. Additionally, local GAF-certified contractor, Roofing Services, volunteered their labor for the installation.

"Thanks to GAF's generous support and Roofing Services' dedication, this family now has a strong, reliable roof over their heads and a fresh start in a home built with love, care, and community spirit," said Ron Flaming, Chairman of Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County.

In Wichita, Kansas, GAF donated materials for a new roof for a family in need. GAF employees and members of the Center for the Advancement of Roofing Excellence (CARE) team volunteered to help with much-needed exterior home repairs.

The homeowner was in danger of losing homeowner's insurance due to the state of his roof. "We look forward to getting these repairs done on our home," shared the owner. "We know these repairs will make our lives better."

"Supporting the needs of our neighbors in Harvey County is a priority for GAF as it becomes a member of this community," said Andrew Shoults, plant manager at the new GAF manufacturing facility. "We're proud to provide a strong and safe roof over the heads of this family in need and look forward to continuing to work with organizations in the area as we gear up for the construction of our new facility in Newton."

As the new manufacturing facility comes online, GAF will continue to invest in the greater Newton community with a combination of products, expertise, and volunteer efforts, including home builds and reroofs. GAF will also continue to support other local community needs through partnerships with various nonprofit organizations.

Workforce Development and Roofing Academy

GAF offers tuition-free classroom and hands-on training in residential, commercial, in-home sales, and restoration, providing individuals with a new career path through GAF Roofing Academy.

Students can also install roofs with nonprofit community partners, such as Habitat for Humanity, gaining real-world experience while supporting their local communities. See how this course changed the life of one young man.

After completing the free program, graduates have access to job opportunities with GAF-certified contractors. To date, more than 2,500 graduates across the country have been placed in jobs.

A Commitment to Community

Through its social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters, GAF continues to support the communities they work with and serve through grants, in-kind donations, and hands-on assistance. Together with their partners, GAF will provide the tools and resources necessary, including workforce development, volunteering, and material donations, to help build resilience in the communities where GAF employees live and work.
